Race Format
The indoor triathlon consists of three 20-minute segments — swim, bike, and run — with 10-minute transition periods between each event to allow participants time to safely move and prepare for the next stage.
This event is designed to be accessible to all fitness levels. Whether you’re racing for a personal best or participating for fun, you control your pace.
Swim – 20 Minutes
Pool Setup
- 6 lanes available
- Maximum 3 swimmers per lane
- Swimmers choose lanes based on ability level
- Swim will start in the water at the shallow end
Lane Labels
- Lane 1: Beginner
- Lane 2: Casual
- Lane 3: Steady
- Lane 4: Strong
- Lane 5: Fast
- Lane 6: Competitive
If a lane fills, participants will be directed to the closest matching speed lane.
How the Swim Works
Participants will swim continuously for 20 minutes with the goal of covering as much distance as possible. Distance will be measured in completed lengths/yards. Resting is allowed if needed. If three swimmers are assigned to a lane, circle swimming will be in effect (please stay to the right). All swimmers will start in the water at the shallow end. Only freestyle and breaststroke are permitted during the event. At the sound of the whistle, swimmers must stop immediately and hold the wall while volunteers record completed laps and any partial lengths, if applicable.
Attire: Proper swim attire is required. Swimmers may wear goggles and a swim cap. No additional equipment is permitted (no fins, paddles, kickboards, snorkels, or other training aids).
Bike – 20 Minutes
The bike portion will take place on spin bikes. Participants may ride at a pace and resistance that feels comfortable and challenging for them. The goal is simple: ride as far as you can in 20 minutes.
At the end of the 20-minute segment, your total distance will be recorded.
Attire: Participants may wear spin shoes (if compatible with the pedals) or regular athletic shoes. Athletic clothing is required.
Run – 20 Minutes
The run portion will take place on treadmills inside the HEC. Participants may choose to run or walk and may adjust speed and incline as desired throughout the 20 minutes.
At the end of the 20-minute segment, your total distance on the treadmill will be recorded.
Attire: Athletic clothing and appropriate running shoes are required.
Please note: Spectators may not gather inside the HEC during the running portion of the race.
